And a bunch of others I don’t feel like naming.

Super Mario Galaxy, quite easily actually.

Megaman 2 comes in second.

Anything from that.

If I had to pick my top 5 though

Persona 4
Persona 3 FES
Wild Arms
Megaman 2
Pokemon Silver/Gold

From a Japanese game
Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7

From a Western game
Mass Effect

For me, I would say Bully has a really good soundtrack. Other then that, there are of coarse the classics. Mario, Zelda, blah blah blah, that’s stuff that will go down in history for its awesome music. I could list the number of games that I think have the best soundtracks but one game beats them all…

Halo 3.

Megaman 2
Animal Crossing (series)

Favorite song from a game is “Eyes on Me” the main theme from FF VIII (trivia note, it’s also the biggest commercially successful video game related piece of music…oh, not in the US of course, it was also sung in chinese among other things)

I need to listen to the soundtrack of ME more for it’s own sake, I did love how it worked with the game but for me it did just what a soundtrack is supposed to do, help convey atmosphere without standing out totaly by itself.

Oh, I forgot, GTA: VC Sure it’s not original, but it fit PERFECTLY.

Killer Instinct?

Or Killer Instinct: Killer Cuts?

I’m a little saddened that MegaMan 2 took so many posts to appear in this thread, and even more saddened that Castlevania hadn’t made an appearance until I just posted. The original Contra had some good tracks too.

Even though over 80% of the music is directly taken from other franchises, I’m saying Super Smash Bros. Brawl because Nintendo has a whole history of music mastery and having a bunch of them in the game is awesome.

And the exclusive remixes are amazing.

Brawl had a couple gems (Luigi’s Mansion, Go KK Rider), but I found it largely uninspired. What they did to Dark World was tragic. :disgust; I thought both Smashes before it had a much higher percentage of great music.

Brawl makes up for it by having everything else be an improvement, though.

I’d also like to nominate Donkey Kong Country 2, every track is synth heaven.

I actually liked a lot of Brawl’s soundtrack, but there were some songs that made my ears sore (Like the Ridley theme, X Tunnel, Mario Circuit among others.) I liked it better than Melee though, but it probably doesn’t top the original’s. shrug

By the way…

Braid because nobody said it yet…
